Sihun

Sihun is a female giant panda born on 2019-07-26 at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda. She is registered in the global giant panda studbook under the number 902, making her a formally documented individual in international giant panda population records. She is the offspring of studbook number 749 and studbook number 567, both adult giant pandas managed under the coordinated breeding program overseen by the China Conservation and Research Center. Her birth was part of planned breeding efforts to maintain genetic diversity in the captive giant panda population. Currently living at Doha Panda House in Qatar, she participates in public education programs focused on giant panda ecology and global endangered species conservation. The facility hosts regular guided visits that share information about giant panda biology and the history of giant panda conservation collaboration between China and Qatar. As a captive-bred giant panda, Sihuna displays typical species traits, including spending most of her daytime hours foraging and resting. Her presence in Doha introduces Middle Eastern audiences to giant pandas, expanding global public support for giant panda protection. She serves as an ambassador for her species, highlighting the success of decades of coordinated conservation work that has moved giant pandas from endangered to vulnerable on the IUCN Red List.
