Ocean Park Hong Kong officially launched the "Pantastic 大熊猫生日" (Pantastic Panda Birthday) themed tram parade on August 4, 2026, celebrating the birthdays of its six giant pandas. The celebration runs through August 31.
Four tramcars decorated in bamboo green were unveiled at the Quarry Bay tram depot, each designed around a birthday panda:
- Ga Ga and De De tram: Handcrafted by Hong Kong artisans, this tram uses a striking optical-illusion (错视觉) design that gives the cubs a lifelike, dimensional look as if climbing onto the car. It carries the birthday slogan "2岁生日！我哋'加'倍'得'意！" (Happy 2nd Birthday! We're doubly delightful), punning on the twins' names.
- Ying Ying and Le Le tram: Spreads a message of joy, honoring the parents born in August.
- An An and Ke Ke tram: Highlights the cute side of the June birthday pandas.
- All-six tram: A combined car featuring all six pandas, inviting the public to join the birthday party at the park.
Panda-themed posters are printed behind the seats in each car. Ocean Park's Executive Director of Retail, Marketing and Entertainment Charles Siu (萧学军) said the park will also roll out panda-themed buses. In parallel, the birthday roadshow and pop-up store will hold its first stop at Fashion Walk in Causeway Bay, featuring realistic photo spots and limited-edition souvenirs.
The trams run at no fixed schedule across Hong Kong Island until August 31, drawing crowds who wait around Central, Admiralty and Wan Chai hoping to spot them.
