China and Belgium sign supplementary panda agreement naming Ran Ran

A supplementary China–Belgium agreement named Ran Ran to join Pairi Daiza under the giant-panda cooperation programme.

Location: Pairi Daiza

In September 2026, the China Wildlife Conservation Association and Pairi Daiza signed a supplementary agreement under the China–Belgium giant panda cooperation programme, which began in February 2014. The agreement provides for Ran Ran to travel to Belgium to join the resident male Xing Hui (星徽, #745).

The arrangement was framed as a deepening of conservation cooperation in the year of the 55th anniversary of China–Belgium diplomatic relations (established October 25, 1971). The two sides said they would coordinate Ran Ran's husbandry and pre-departure preparations, and stated explicitly that there is no breeding plan between Ran Ran and Xing Hui — her role is companionship and cooperative research.
