Wild Panda Mother and Cub Filmed Together in Songpan for the First Time

For two consecutive days, July 18 and July 19, 2026, the sky-ground integrated monitoring system (天空地一体化综合监测系统) deployed in the Songpan Section of Giant Panda National Park captured clear footage of a wild giant panda mother and cub traveling together at the same camera position in the Baiyang area. This is the first mother-cub pair recorded since the system went into service. The monitoring project completed equipment installation in 2025 and was officially put into use in 2026. Using smart infrared cameras, VHF short-wave communication, solar power, and an AI analysis platform, the system enables real-time, non-intrusive wildlife monitoring in remote mountain forest habitat.
