Yuan Meng Named by First Ladies

On December 4, 2017, four months after his birth, the first giant panda born in France was formally given the name "Yuan Meng" (圆梦) — "a dream fulfilled". The name was chosen jointly by the Chinese and French First Ladies, and French First Lady Brigitte Macron became his godmother.

Zoo director Delord framed the occasion as more than a programme: "For us it is not just a cooperation, but a solid friendship. I hope the friendship between Beauval Zoo and the Chengdu Panda Base will continue."
