Cai Tao (Chinese: 彩陶) is a male giant panda born on August 4, 2010, at the Ya’an Bifengxia Base. He holds the global studbook number 778.

His father is Yuan Yuan (园园, studbook 488) and his mother is Na Na (娜娜, studbook 568). His siblings include Xing Rui (星睿), Xing Hui (星徽, 745), Shun Shun (舜舜), Pu Pu (浦浦), Pan Wang (潘旺), and Fa Fa (发发).

In May 2013, he was sent to Taiyuan Zoo in Shanxi alongside Hu Chun for an exchange program.


Journey to Indonesia

On September 28, 2017, Cai Tao and Hu Chun departed for Indonesia aboard Garuda Indonesia flight GA887, beginning a 10-year conservation program. They reside at Taman Safari Indonesia in Bogor, West Java.


Fatherhood

In November 2025, Cai Tao and Hu Chun’s cub Satrio Wiratama (Rio) was born — the first giant panda ever born in Indonesia.
