Basic Profile
Qiao Qiao (Chinese: 乔乔), studbook 860, is a wild-born female giant panda. She was rescued on April 8, 2013 in the Siguniang Mountain scenic area (四姑娘山) after being found with difficulty walking, and was taken into the care of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda.
She is one of the very few wild-origin pandas to breed successfully in managed care — the second such wild-introduced female to do so, after Cao Cao (草草).

Significance
Qiao Qiao’s wild lineage has made her one of the most genetically valuable mothers in the captive population. Her descendants — including Qiao Liang — carry that wild ancestry forward, which is why her offspring are important to the breeding programme’s genetic diversity.
