Wu Wen (Chinese: 武雯) is a female giant panda born on August 11, 2013, at the Ya’an Bifengxia Base. She holds the global studbook number 884.
Her father is Wu Gang (武岗, studbook 502) and her mother is Gong Zhu (公主, studbook 477) — one of the most prolific mothers in the program. She is described as cheerful, outgoing, and playful — a charming and adorable panda who forms close bonds with her keepers.
In 2017, China and the Netherlands signed a 15-year panda conservation agreement. On April 11, 2017, Wu Wen and Xing Ya departed for the Netherlands aboard KLM flight KL0892. The Netherlands invested €5.1 million in building a luxurious panda house.
They made their public debut on May 30, 2017.
On January 18, 2020, Wu Wen and Xing Ya successfully mated. On May 1, 2020, she gave birth to Fan Xing (梵星) — the first giant panda born in the Netherlands. Fan Xing returned to China in September 2023.
On July 12-13, 2024, Wu Wen gave birth to twins. One cub unfortunately did not survive due to congenital issues. The surviving cub was named Lang Yue (朗月) on October 22, 2024.
