Zoo Berlin, located in the Tiergarten district of Berlin, Germany, is one of the oldest and most species-diverse zoos in the world, housing over 20,000 individuals representing 1,400 species as of 2024. Its iconic giant panda pair *Ailuropoda melanoleuca* Jiao Qing and Meng Meng arrived in 2017 under the Sino-German Giant Panda Conservation Cooperation Agreement, a joint initiative between the China Wildlife Conservation Association and Tiergarten Berlin GmbH. The zoo is an accredited member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) and the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), and collaborates closely with the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research on cross-border species recovery programs for critically endangered taxa including *Gorilla
