Bao Li (宝力, studbook 1365), the male giant panda living at Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington D.C., turned five years old on August 4, 2026. The cub was born on August 4, 2021 at Wolong Shenshuping Base in Sichuan, China.
Bao Li departed for the United States on October 15, 2024 together with Qing Bao (青宝), traveling from Dujiangyan Base via charter flight to Washington Dulles — a 19-hour journey accompanied by two Chinese keepers and veterinarians. After a 30-day quarantine and small-scale member previews, the pair officially debuted at the Smithsonian's panda house on January 24, 2025.
His fifth birthday was noted by Chinese panda media (看熊猫) on August 5, 2026, with fans tracking his growth from cub to young adult at the Asia Trail exhibit.
