Lun Lun

Lun Lun is a female giant panda born on September 14, 1997, at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in Sichuan, China, and is registered under studbook number 592 in the global giant panda studbook system, the official record used to coordinate species conservation management across captive populations. She is the daughter of Mao Mao and Bing Bing, and her lineage falls within the core wild-derived captive giant panda population that forms the genetic foundation of modern global captive breeding programs for the species. On her first birthday in 1998, she was transferred to Zoo Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, as part of the long-term cooperative giant panda conservation partnership between Chinese and U.S. wildlife institutions.

Lun Lun currently resides at Zoo Atlanta, where she participates in the joint research and conservation program operated by the zoo and the China Wildlife Conservation Association.
