Mao Mao (毛毛), officially named Fu Wa (福娃), studbook number 570, is a female giant panda born on September 6, 2003 at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. She has spent her entire life at the base, now living in the Jiang Yue House (江月馆), and is honored as one of its veteran breeding dams (功勋母兽).

Her mother Ya Ya was born on the opening day of the 1990 Beijing Asian Games and was one of the world’s first artificially-reared giant panda twins to survive. Through this maternal line, Mao Mao belongs to the famous “Pan Pan” sports-family lineage behind Asian Games and Olympic mascot pandas.
Mao Mao has raised eight cubs in five litters — her fifth delivery, the 2020 twins, was the base’s first captive-born twin pair of that year:
