Qiao Qiao

Qiao Qiao (Chinese: 乔乔) is a female giant panda born on August 12, 2017, in the wild habitat spanning the Minshan and Qionglai mountain ranges of central China, a core native range for the species. She is recorded in the global giant panda studbook under number 1098, formalizing her identity as a documented wild-born individual. Both her parents are wild giant pandas registered under studbook number 9999, a designation for uncollared wild individuals not yet assigned unique individual studbook entries, confirming her lineage to the naturally breeding wild panda population that has been the focus of decades of cross-institutional conservation work.

In August 2018, coinciding with her first birthday, Qiao Qiao was transferred to the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda (CCRCGP) based in Sichuan Province. The facility specializes in the care, research, and rehabilitation of giant pandas rescued from wild habitats, and Qiao Qiao joined the center’s dedicated wild-rescued panda conservation program following her transfer.
