Ying Ying is a female giant panda born on 1997-09-09 at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda. She is registered as studbook number 446 in the global giant panda studbook system that tracks captive populations of the species across the world. She is the offspring of male giant panda studbook number 324 and female giant panda studbook number 358, both long-term captive residents at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda. Her lineage is part of the center’s managed breeding program designed to maintain genetic diversity for the captive giant panda population. Currently living at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda, he participates in the center’s long-term behavioral research and public education programs focused on giant panda ecology.
