The zoo is renowned for its conservation work on endemic primate species of southwest China, including the Critically Endangered Trachypithecus leucocephalus (white-headed langur) and Trachypithecus francoisi (François' langur), whose natural habitats are restricted to the karst limestone mountains of Guangxi and adjacent northern Vietnam.
