Short version

Bing Jing (冰晶, studbook #943), nicknamed "King Kong Legs," is a female giant panda born September 29, 2014 at the Ya'an Bifengxia Base. Daughter of Lu Lu, she was adopted by legendary Taiwanese singer Jeff Chang (张信哲) in 2015. She went viral for her unique sleeping pose — legs stretched straight out like steel beams — earning the nickname "King Kong Legs."

Basic Profile

Bing Jing (Chinese: 冰晶, “Ice Crystal”), studbook number 943, is a female giant panda born on September 29, 2014 at the China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Pandas (CCRCGP) Ya’an Bifengxia Base. Her father is Lu Lu (芦芦) and her mother is Shen Bin (绅宾).

The King Kong Legs

Bing Jing became an internet sensation for her distinctive sleeping pose: she lies flat on her back with her hind legs stretched perfectly straight out in front of her — rigid, unmoving, like two steel beams. The pose earned her the nickname “King Kong Legs” (金刚腿) and reminded fans of King Kong’s powerful stance. Videos of her sleeping often show her waking up disoriented, looking around as if asking “Who am I? Where am I?”

Adoption by Jeff Chang

In September 2015, Jeff Chang (张信哲) — the legendary Taiwanese singer known as the “Prince of Love Songs” — adopted Bing Jing. He has maintained his sponsorship for years, and on her 11th birthday in 2025, he recorded a special video message for her.

Life Journey

Bing Jing lived at the Emeishan Xianzhi Zhujian Ecological Park from 2017 to 2018. On July 25, 2025, she was transferred to Linyi Zoo in Shandong, where she now lives alongside male panda Su Xing (苏星). She made her public debut there on August 2, 2025.
