He is listed as studbook number 1085 in the global giant panda studbook managed by the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda. The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is a leading Chinese institution focused on ex-situ conservation of endangered native species. He is the offspring of Gu Gu (studbook number 649) and Xi Mei (studbook number 595).
