Naming and Adoption

In a landmark fan-culture adoption, the mobile game Onmyoji (《阴阳师》) gave Yuan Fu a lifelong adoption (终身认养) — one of the rare cases of a game IP adopting a real panda. The adoption name “缘福” comes from the game’s lore, and fans know him by his nickname “脸大毛黄” (“big face, yellowish fur”), a playful description of his stocky, round-faced look.

Life Journey

• 2022-07-21 — Born to Zhi Chun inside her wild-training enclosure at Hetaoping, alongside twin sister Chun Xiao. From their first breath, both cubs were raised in the simulated-wild environment under Zhi Chun’s care.
• 2023-04 — Transferred to Wolong Shenshuping Base (神树坪), where he was cared for by a foster mother, Yun Duo (云朵), and grew up alongside Meng Xun (梦寻) and Ao Bao (奥宝).
• Present — Lives at the Ya’an Bifengxia Base (雅安碧峰峡基地), where he has become a fan favorite.

Yuan Fu’s first three years were spent entirely inside wild-training settings — a childhood shared with his twin, who remained on the release-candidate track.
