Chiang Mai Zoo, located at the foot of Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai Province, Northern Thailand, is one of Southeast Asia’s leading zoological institutions accredited by the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) and the Southeast Asian Zoos and Aquariums Association (SEAZA). The 200-acre campus hosts over 400 species, including *Ailuropoda melanoleuca* (giant panda), *Elephas maximus indicus* (Asian elephant), *Panthera tigris corbetti* (Indochinese tiger), and *Pongo abelii* (Sumatran orangutan, listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List and Appendix I of CITES). Since 2003, the zoo has operated the Sino-Thai Giant Panda Conservation Cooperation Program in partnership with the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda (CCRCGP), housing giant pandas Lin Hui, Chuang Chuang, and their offspring Lin Bing, the first giant panda born in Southeast Asia.
