Short version
Ke Ke (可可, studbook #1180), originally named Tian Ke (甜可), is a female giant panda born on June 26, 2019 at the Wolong Shenshuping Base. Daughter of Han Yuan and Jin Ke, she was gifted to Hong Kong in September 2024 alongside male An An as the third pair of pandas presented by the central government. She now resides at Ocean Park Hong Kong.
Ke Ke (Chinese: 可可), originally named Tian Ke (甜可), studbook number 1180, is a female giant panda born on June 26, 2019 at the China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Pandas (CCRCGP) Wolong Shenshuping Base. She is nicknamed Yuan Mei (媛妹) after her mother.
Her mother is Han Yuan (汉媛, studbook 760) and her father is Jin Ke (津柯, studbook 1116). She has a twin brother named Qi Lin (麒麟).
Ke Ke spent her early years at the CCRCGP. In 2024, she was moved to the Chengdu Research Base’s Dujiangyan facility in preparation for her journey to Hong Kong.
On July 1, 2024, during the 27th anniversary celebration of Hong Kong’s return to China, the central government announced that a pair of pandas would be gifted to Hong Kong. Ke Ke and male panda An An (安安) were selected.
On September 26, 2024, Ke Ke and An An departed Chengdu aboard a special flight, arriving at Hong Kong International Airport at approximately 11:00 AM. A welcoming ceremony was held by the Hong Kong SAR government. After a 30-day quarantine, they moved into their new home at Ocean Park Hong Kong on October 27, 2024.
They made their public debut on December 8, 2024. A naming competition was held, but the names “An An” and “Ke Ke” were ultimately retained.
Ke Ke is described as weighing approximately 100 kg, with a gentle and curious personality. She is an excellent climber. She enjoys a diet that gradually transitioned from Sichuan bamboo to Guangdong bamboo varieties.
With the addition of Ke Ke and An An, plus the existing pandas Ying Ying, Le Le, and their twin cubs, Hong Kong is now home to 6 giant pandas.
