She was the fifth giant panda cub born at Chimelong Safari Park, following the park’s successful breeding program that began after pandas were relocated there following the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake.

Initially called “Xiao Wu” (Little Five), she was officially named “Yue Yue” (悦悦) on January 7, 2016, meaning “joy” and echoing “粤” (Yue), the abbreviation for Guangdong Province.
