Tou Hin

Tou Hin (Chinese: 桃浜, studbook 945) is a female giant panda born on December 2, 2014 at Adventure World in Shirahama, Wakayama, Japan. She weighed approximately 180 grams at birth with a body length of about 20 cm. Her father is Eimei (永明, studbook 384) and her mother is Rau Hin (良浜, studbook 511). She has a twin sister, Sakura Hin (樱浜, studbook 944). The twin births were another successful birth in the long-running Sino-Japanese giant panda cooperative breeding program at Adventure World.

Naming

On February 6, 2015, she was named “Tou Hin” (桃浜). The name “Peach” (桃) originates from Chinese culture, symbolizing peace and happiness, and carries the wish that the panda would be widely loved and bring joy to people.

Life at Adventure World

On May 21, 2015, Tou Hin made her first public appearance with her mother and sister. She was described as active and lively, with a more outgoing personality compared to her calmer sister Sakura Hin.

Return to China

On February 22, 2023, Tou Hin returned to China together with her father Eimei and sister Sakura Hin, departing from Kansai International Airport and arriving at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport at 23:10. The return was motivated by the need for the twin sisters to find mates in China as they reached breeding age. After arrival, they underwent a one-month quarantine at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding.

Life at Chengdu Base

Tou Hin made her public debut at Chengdu Base around late March 2023. She continues to reside at the base, participating in the captive breeding program. She is popular with visitors for her energetic personality.
